Trends in the development of modern poetry.
The concept of modernity in the world of literature is very relative. Today is considered a poet or prose writer, who can be separated from the reader up to forty years. Given the pace of today’s life, the rapidly changing economic and political realities, the term is huge. And to compare the poetry of Soviet Russia in 1969 with the poetry of Russia in 2009 is almost impossible. Perestroika, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the introduction of the usual measured life of a market economy, the change of priorities in the minds of people could not help but change modern poetry.
The main trend that can be observed among almost all modern authors is the withdrawal into oneself. Poets were much more interested in their inner world, their feelings, feelings, and reflections than the surrounding reality. There is a very reasonable explanation for this. On the one hand, the outside world has become too cruel, commercial and rational for those who have the meaning of life in irrationality. You must admit that it is difficult to imagine a poet-poet who is leading a large business on the resale of oil, daily gnawing at the competitors’s throat, and in breaks writing a poem about the good and eternal. On the other hand, the need for bravura poems on socio-political topics has disappeared. You no longer need to write about the Komsomol construction projects and the development of virgin lands to become a member of the Writers’ Union. Yes, and civil themes have disappeared as such. Even if you want to write something patriotic and life-affirming, finding a topic for inspiration is not easy. What kind of civil lyrics can we talk about in an era when even the word “patriot” was considered almost abusive? The society is too tired of politics and ideology, any attempt to introduce a civil leitmotif into a poem can be perceived as political agitation and rejected by the reader.
Some changes are observed now, in the 2000s. There are poems about the motherland, about Russia. Of course, without political allusions, and most often among songwriters. Unfortunately, not always of an acceptable quality, the traditions of civil lyric poetry have already been lost, but there are also positive examples – Alexander Dobronravov, Alexander Shaganov, Andrey Nikolsky. Interest in the White Guard movement is reviving, poems appear about the heroes of the civil war and pre-revolutionary Russia.
Separate conversation deserve poems of representatives of individual youth subcultures. Talented young people are increasingly adjoining any movements where they can express themselves and attract public attention. Particularly characteristic mass poetic creativity in groups ready, ethnic and folk groups, as well as among rappers and rockers. You can have different attitudes to their works, but this is another facet of modern poetry, which is difficult to disown.
With regard to the prospects for the development of modern poetry, it is safe to say that talents are not extinct, poems are born, and the level of poetic culture, which plummeted in the early nineties, shows a positive dynamic, which is encouraging.
